We join together to offer heartfelt condolences to Dr. Lynne Simpson-Harding and Sydney M. Scott as they mourn the loss of James W. Harding, Sr. James passed away unexpectedly during a fishing accident on April 29, 2020. He was 55 years.
James was a beloved teacher, coach and mentor at Star Spencer High School. His career spans more than 30 years of service to youth and his community. James’ free time was devoted to spending time with his family or on his boat fishing. He never met a stranger and his contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
We ask for continued prayers for our family wife Dr. Lynne Simpson-Harding; son James Jr. (Chara); daughters Lauren, Christina and Sydney; and grandchildren Chalyse and James III.

Due to the pandemic everyone is asked to remain in your vehicle and follow the CDC protocols by wearing face coverings and remaining six feet apart. In order to honor the legacy of James and celebrate his love for Langston, please wear Langston paraphernalia or orange and blue. You are encouraged to decorate your car and bring orange blue balloons for the balloon release at the conclusion of the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in the name of James Harding to Langston University.
James is the husband of Dr. Lynne Simpson-Harding, who is the daughter of Dr. Wessylyne & James Allan Simpson; Granddaughter of Emily & Wesley Dow Alford; and G/Granddaughter of Matthew Solomon Alford.
