With very heavy hearts, we share news of the passing of Romeo J. Alford, Jr. Romeo passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was 62 years old. He will be missed tremendously by the entire Alford family and all who knew him.
Romeo was born on August 25, 1958 to the late Romeo J. Alford, Sr. and Louise Swain Alford. He attended Tulsa Public Schools and graduated from Langston University with a degree in chemistry. He went on to earn a master’s from Northeastern State University with a degree in school administration. Like both of his parents, he took great pride in the education profession. His career spanned over 38 years in the Tulsa school district, most recently serving as interim principal of Traice Academy. In addition to his passion for education, he was a lifelong cowboy at heart. Following in his father’s footsteps, he served as the organizer and director of the annual Clearview Rodeo which celebrated its 39th anniversary in 2019. Romeo was a dedicated member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., pledging the Beta Kappa Chapter at Langston University in 1976. He was also a steadfast member of the Alford family, hosting and attending every Alford family reunion.
Our beloved was a devoted husband, father and son. He will be forever cherished by his wife of 29 years, Brenda Nails-Alford; daughter, Jordan Louise Alford; mother, Louise Swain Alford; brother, Kenneth Alford; aunt, Violet Alford-Patterson; nephews, Marquiz Alford (Sheryka) and Sterling Alford (Melissa); and a host of other family, fraternity brothers, fellow cowboys, co-workers and friends. Please continue to keep them in prayer during this difficult season.
