Rodeo fans, get ready - the Clearview Open Rodeo is back!
Mark your calendars for August 1 – 2, 2026, as Jordan Alford proudly presents the 40th Annual Clearview Open Rodeo at the historic Clearview Memorial Arena in Clearview, Oklahoma. This milestone event promises a weekend filled with tradition, excitement, and community celebration.
The Clearview Open Rodeo is a beloved annual tradition in the historic All-Black town of Clearview, Oklahoma, traditionally held the first weekend of August. Founded by Romeo Alford Sr., the rodeo has been faithfully continued by the Alford family and stands as a powerful testament to legacy, perseverance, and community pride.
Clearview itself is one of just 13 remaining All-Black towns in Oklahoma, founded in 1903, and the rodeo remains a cornerstone event for the Clearview Roundup Club. Each year, it brings together parades, grand entries, and an authentic celebration of Oklahoma’s rich Black cowboy culture. This year’s rodeo is especially meaningful, as it honors the memory of Romeo James Alford Jr., son of the late Romeo and Louise Swain Alford of Clearview, who started the event with the support of the Alford family. Romeo James Alford Jr. passed away on February 6, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19, and his legacy continues to live on through this cherished event.
The 2026 Clearview Open Rodeo also marks a long-awaited return, as it will be the first rodeo held since the pandemic paused events in 2020. We are excited to once again gather, celebrate, and continue this proud tradition.
We look forward to seeing family, friends, and rodeo fans from near and far in Clearview, Oklahoma, for this historic and heartfelt celebration. Don’t miss it!
